HISTORY MENU
The History Menu provides access to information on the history of the cemetery and the parish, as well as some other information related to those buried in the cemetery, or their extended families.
There are references to a couple epidemics, which are interesting to review, given that we have not experienced an epidemic in the modern era. Based on casual inspection of the dates of some of the deaths in the cemetery, it is likely that there were also subsequent epidemic(s) in the mid-1880's.
This information could be enhanced by submissions of the readers of this site. If you have something relevant, send it to us, and we''ll try and get it posted.
RESTORATION MENU
The Restoration Menu enables you to browse the history of the renovation.
Starting with the pre-restoration planning, in which you can see the state of the cemetery, through various phases of the renovation.
There were some remarkable restorations, such as the S.H. McDonald Restoration, in which one of the largest gravestones in the cemetery was found in broken pieces, fully sunken in the ground. In the pictorial, you'll see the reconstruction of this gravestone.
We have also included some information that we found on the 1973 restoration, although we do not have any pictures of this restoration.
BURIALS MENU
The Burials Menu contains links to every photo of a gravestone, or obituary, that we have, organized by family name. There are a lot of different families in the cemetery, so we grouped the names, such as "Bryan - Fraser". By clicking on that group, it opens another menu, which provides links to each family name.
For those who would simply prefer to see a list of all the family names on one page, we added the "All Graves" grouping, for this purpose.
One thing that we learned as we set up this website is that there are a lot of individuals buried in this cemetery, and although we have not totalled the number of listings, we estimate it to be well over 200 in our list. We estimate that there are an equal amount of graves, or more, without tombstones or wooden crosses, due to the deterioration of time.
If you click on a name for which there is a gravestone, we have tried to provide a picture of the "Before Restoration" and "After Restoration" state of the gravestone. What is truely amazing about the restoration is the large number of gravestones which had sunken into the earth and disappeared, but had been recovered by our team of masons. A large number of gravestones were reconstructed from fragments - they truely did an amazing job!
At the very bottom is a section called "Family Info". This section is devoted to sharing additional information about the families that are in, or closely connected, to those buried in the cemetery. There is a possibilty that this section may move over time and be incorporated into the forum.
NOTE: We want to expand this entire section with more family information. If you have any information that you would like to share, please contact us and we will get it posted.
